Blackwood Development Company, Inc. (BDC) is a privately owned development, leasing and management firm based in Richmond, Virginia. It was founded in 1988 by Willis P. Blackwood. Willis has been involved in the development of approximately two million square feet of retail space during his career. Even though the firm is small, it prides itself on maximizing the potential of any project. The firm is involved with developing new projects, acquiring existing, leasing and managing properties and brokerage. Its goal is to concentrate on retail properties. Its philosophy is to cooperate with tenants, citizens, local governments and lenders in order to form a harmonious relationship between all. Decision making is conducted in a concise and timely fashion.
